On 7 October BSEIF held its first aperitivo at Reflex, in Via Guglielmo Röntgen in Milan. It was the first occasion on which the community met as a whole outside the selection process. More than 60 of its over 90 members attended.
For an association in its first semester, the turnout is the figure that matters. Two thirds of the community chose to spend the evening with the people they will work alongside this year, thus showing that the interest seen during recruiting extends well beyond the application itself. By that measure, the evening was a clear success.
The aperitivo was also the first time that members of different divisions met in one setting. This matters for an association whose research notes, modelling sessions and speaker events depend on work that crosses divisional lines.
